Having good team mates makes the work of every team leader easy. Good team mates are not just capable hands but colleagues willing to put in their all. WILLING being the keyword.
BE A TEAM LEADER THAT ASKS FOR FEEDBACK
Why get a team if you do not plan on listening to them? Not asking for feedback is same as telling your team mates to the face that they are of no value to the team and that they are just necessary numerical additions.
This is not only an insult to them but also an insult to their skill set. It kills the creativity of the team and robs it of the vital progress it could have made.
BE A TEAM LEADER THAT CAN TAKE CHARGE WITHOUT BEING BOSSY.
Nobody likes to be bossed around but it doesn’t mean that a team does not need someone in charge.
Do not let the understanding that every member of a crew is of equal importance make you forget to take charge of the stirring wheel. Make your team mates understand the importance of what you do together, then lead.
Loyalty aside, nobody likes to be on a sinking ship. Strive to give your best and to get the results you desire.
BE A TEAM LEADER THAT GIVES BREAKS AND APPRECIATES
Team mates will always appreciate you when you remember that they are human and not robots. Also make it a point of duty to join them in those breaks to build up the team spirit.
When they do well, appreciate them. Don’t always take the glory for yourself.
